The Runaway, ran away (0/0 people found this helpful)

Well, Martina does it again, always really good books, have read all that she has written so far, but this one kinda stuck in my mind, more because perhaps being a parent you can indentify with the main character. Saying that, these books of Martina's can be read by male or female, and it is hard to imagine that the books are written by a female. True grit.

Absolutley Brilliant (0/0 people found this helpful)

This is the first of Martina Cole books I've read and I absolutley loved it.
Very epic, there is always something going on, this book never gets boring.
Very well written also, it gives you a real insight as to the troubles some people had to face.
Cathy's character is very strong but also very vulnarable. I did like her character, because even though she has been through a load of pain and heartache, she still survives. The sympathy for her was just pouring out of me, rejoycing when something good happened to her, but then the bad always comes back to her, even at the end, I cried.
Because she didn't deserve what happened to her, she was overall, a genuine, good person. But with the minimal of people who actually cared about her, she didn't really stand a chance. But with the few friends she makes along the way. Desrae for example. She pulls thorugh. Just about.
Also, Eammons character, I did like him, even though he doesn't really come across as a good person I still feel sympathy for him. Because he never really had a chance in life. Not really.
I was shocked at what he did to Cathy torwards the end, but I really believed he loved her. Mabye not in the most conventional way, but in his own.
I was shocked also at the romance between Cathy and Bill Gates, I really didn't see that one coming.
But thats what's so great about this book, so full of suprises and drama it's impossible to put down.
I finished this book within a couple of days. As I said, Very addictive.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good read.

martina wins again (0/0 people found this helpful)

Once again martina cole has come up trumps with a cracking good read, I have found it hard to put one of her books down until the final words have been digested as she makes you feel that you are part of the story that you are reading.

Good....but not one of her best (0/0 people found this helpful)

I love Martina, but even though I thoroughly enjoyed this book I was a tad annoyed at the characters. Cathy irritated the life out of me, nice one minute and a bitch the next. Eamonn you just love to hate, though he irritated me also, with his massive family and his money. If he really loved Cathy why not just be with her??? Desrae was fab though, what a case! Good, but not the best
