A truly amazing first book (1/1 people found this helpful)

A moving and honest account of a search for love and fulfillment in today's society. Barbara has opened her heart to reveal her innermost feelings in a beautifully written way. With her daughter she has found happiness.

If you can only read one book this year, then read this. It touched me on so many levels and reduced me to tears and then laughter within a change of sentence.
This is for any woman who has lost touch with what is really important in life and for any man who truly wants to know how a woman feels.
I sat by the fire one evening to read this and didn't stop until I had turned the final page late into the night.
Your heart will break, mend and then break all over again as you are taken on an emotional journey with Barbara and her daughter Anya.
A wonderful, uplifting and inspiring read.

Russian Lieutenant's Woman (3/3 people found this helpful)

One of the best books I've read in a long time. A fascinating story that had me gripped from the first page. It deals with the dilemmas faced by many career women about finding the right partner and when to have children. I so wanted there to be a happy ending for Barbara - and I couldn't put the book down until I found out what had happened to her and Anya. This year's must read! Highly recommended.

A Search for Fulfillment (1/1 people found this helpful)

I could not believe that this is a first book for this author. The love for her daughter shines like a beacon through the impossiblity of a lasting relationship with the father. But in spite of this, it is obviously important that her daughter knows of her roots in Russia. A moving and thought provoking book. A "must" read.
