4/5 stars

A lesson in technical excellence (0/0 people found this helpful)

This book is worth a read if only for the author's masterful handling of character and sense of place.

Promised more than it delivered (0/0 people found this helpful)

This is a very well written book and a real page turner - the problem is that the story ends up being predictable and like one of those Sunday afternoon TV murder-mysteries, where you know from the start who done it. The situation is set up brilliantly and the pace is both poetic and fast-moving. It is easy to get caught up in the story but I couldn't help but feel a little bit let down at the neat and tidy ending. A final twist would have made this so much more worthwhile.

Thumbs up (0/0 people found this helpful)

I loved this book.It wasn't the most complex of books i felt, but a nice gentle read that transported you to warm sunny Tuscany. Some of the plot i did find a bit predictable ,but hey sometimes it's nice to just have a cozy read without having to puzzle over it to much.

Excellent (0/0 people found this helpful)

I picked this book up and put it down again in the bookshop more times than I can remember. Then, a friend recommended it. After just 10 pages I was hooked and kept reading - not to find out the answers to the many mysteries but because I wanted the story to keep going and going. Excellent. Thoroughly recommend.

Terrible! (3/3 people found this helpful)

I read a lot of books and pride myself on making sure I try to finish every book.... until now. I couldn't even get started with it. I got about 10 pages into this and found I'd been daydreaming and didn't actually care enough to go back and read the bits I'd missed. Dull. I wouldn't even recommend it as holiday read!
