Reader Reviews:

4/5 stars

Very good, but too long (0/0 people found this helpful)

Segev tells us a very interesting story of the State of Israel and its people. The book is well researched and very well written. My only criticism is its length - he could've told the same story in 250 pages.

5/5 stars

A fascinating account of foundation of the State of Israel (5/14 people found this helpful)

This book should be essential reading for anyone interested in the history of Israel. It is well written and easy to read without being overly simplistic. It provides a balanced point of view and gives real insight into the problems faced by the founders and early leaders of Israel.
