Reader Reviews:
A must buy for all parents of shy children (18/18 people found this helpful)Anyone with concerns for their shy child should definitely buy this book. It has been a God send for my family and my seven year old "shy" child. And it does exactly what it says on the tin!
Despite being an Infant teacher for ten years it did nothing to prepare me for being a parent raising a shy, slow-to-warm-up child. She found changing classes every year at school extremely difficult and has been frozen in fear when confronted with new activities, places and people.
My husband had shy tendencies as a child but I didn't and I found it very frustrating not understanding the causes of her shyness and how best to approach it to help her.
This book is very readable, easy to use and full of great advice that will get you thinking and understanding your child's particular triggers. It clearly explains why children find experiences such as a new school, sports class and meeting new people difficult. It helps you form strategies to use to help them become successfully shy. I started reading this book six weeks ago and have seen profound changes in my daughter's behaviour. My husband and I can now see how our family environment wasn't teaching her to deal with the emotions positively by herself. It has even helped us prevent our un-shy second child developing shy behaviours because we were repeating the wrong behaviours with him.
As I now understand her triggers and the reasons for them I can confidently coach her on how to deal with them, without any frustration. My only regret is that I didn't discover this book years ago!
I would have paid 100x the price for this book for the insight and the incredible transformations so far in my child's behaviour and approach to her triggers. Similar Products
