Francesca Mendozo had been dominated and bullied by her father all her 21 years and suddenly her father decided to marry her off to the Sicilian billionaire Rocco Castellani. Francesca thought the marriage will give her the freedom she had always wanted so she had no problems agreeing to it especially as she thought she has falling in love with Rocco. When at their wedding reception, Francesca overheard gossip about Rocco's womanising ways and later found him kissing his ex-girlfriend, it was more that she could bear; she decided to run away and claim the freedom that has long been denied her.
Rocco Castellani is ruthless and very successful in business, nicknamed `il lupo' - the wolf - you cross him at your detriment. When Rocco agreed to take over the Mendozo business and the deal entailed marrying Francesca Mendozo, he thought he was getting a perfect Sicilian wife, - a quiet, demure, untouched, stay at home wife who would give him the sons he craved. He certainly hadn't expected that his `shy and quiet Sicilian wife' would pull a vanishing act on their wedding day with the gardener's son, Carlo Mancini. His efforts to find her proved futile.
Six months later Francesca sneaks back into Sicily to visit her mother following her father's death, but did not bargain on Rocco being at the airport to receiver her. Francesca wants a divorce. Rocco does not believe in divorce, Francesca must resume her duties as his Sicilian wife, but the woman he met at the airport was not the demure, quiet woman he had married, but a fiery, quick tempered woman who was not afraid to speak her mind.
This is the first book by this author that I have read and I must say I was very impressed. This book is a breath of fresh air; Sarah Morgan took a simple story line and created a very emotional and true to life story. The banter between the hero and heroine is of such comedic proportion that I was left reeling with laughter. The heroine was very naïve, innocent and had led a very sheltered life but had decided that no one will ever put her down again. The hero and the heroine had opposite views on what a marriage should be, how Francesca sets about taming Rocco and his views of marriage was very inventive and humorous at times. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and will look out for more books by this author. I am certain you will enjoy this book too.
