The charm and innocence of a young Girl living in Java then travelling through europe to Holland at the start of World War II. The fantasy world mixes with the real and the two combine to make one of the most moving and magical stories I have ever read. The young girl's imagination and thoughts translate into real events that I myself can relate to from 60 years ago when I was her age. A wonderful book.
