Reader Reviews:Good detail, if a bit dated. (0/0 people found this helpful)I borrowed this book from the library, as I have always held a desire to construct my own steel string guitar. Based on the photographic illustrations, my first impressions are that it is a very complex task - and quite daunting (there are so many clamps involved! ). However, the first chapter gave good encouragement and initial advice to the novice (ie - how to approach the project, be prepared to make mistakes - everyone does etc). This persuaded me to read the entire book, which clearly explained each step involved in the construction, along with tools and materials required. My only downpoint about this book is that it seems a little bit dated, with the guitars photographed looking like they date back to the seventies. One other thing to note is that the book only covers details on constructing one specific type of guitar - although this is probably a good thing, to avoid confusing the novice reader (ie - myself). In summary, I'd recommend the book to all interested in constructing their own guitar. Its made me determined to begin my project soon (I need to buy a lot of clamps first!).
