I was impressed with this book as it approaches the subject from both a very scientific approach and also a '360 degree' response to how to cope with a potential pandemic. She covers prevention, treatments and also how to cope with the social effects of a pandemic should it strike. A very grounded 'boots and braces' approach.

The Survivor's Guide to Bird Flu contains an enormous amount of very useful information about how to protect ourselves if the Bird flu virus mutates to become more transmissible between humans. The author has included lots of practical advice on how to eat and which vitamins, herbs and other supplements to take to be resistant to viral infection. There is also an excellent survival section that reads a bit like an SAS manual. The book also covers the science behind viruses and influenza - particularly the H5N1 flu.
