Beautiful evocation of Swedish period design (16/16 people found this helpful)

This marvellous book displays Swedish style through many periods. The rooms themselves are beautiful, I enjoy just flicking through the book looking at the photos. There are plenty of ideas -- both in the 'feel' of rooms and in the depth of detail. I have used this book in the small touches inside, as a source book for decorative art and I am currently using it for creating a comfortable but spacious-feeling outdoor room in my tiny London patio garden.

I'd never bought an interior design book before, and I'm glad I bought this one. Though not a drawback, this book doesn't really contain any how-to information for recreating the look but it is certainly inspirational.

I have searched for a book capturing Swedish Style for some time, and this is just excellent. It contains illustrations of many swedish period houses featuring the most wonderful painted finishes. There are some excellent examples of faded and worn painted furniture, as well as handpainted walls. It also discusses the history behind the how th e swedish look came about. I shall be decorating 3 rooms in my house based on pictures in this book.This was just the inspiration i was looking for.
