I'd read the previous review about 5 being better value so hung off buying this until a holiday trip meant I needed a fix (and book 6 wasn't out). And after a flight delay meant a daytime flight with no entertainment, this book saved my sanity.
Oh boy... this is so much better than book 5 from the get-go. The previous Ultimate books often seemed to run in a theme where if you got your brain into that groove, you could see the pattern. This one doesn't. While I still finish quicker than the target times, you do really have to think about them - and there's often no immediately obvious path. Marvellous!

I have enjoyed all the previous Times Killer sudoku but as the previous reviewer stated, i too jump to the harder sections as i don't find the 'gentle' etc ones challenging enough. This Ultimate Killer book jumps straight to the harder levels and gets touhger. Fantastic value for money given the amount of hours you will spend on this book. I only hope volume 2 will have more than 120 puzzles, that said though, i'd still buy it and can't wait til it comes out!

Certainly good value for money with 100+ hours of brain squeezing for most of us mere mortals. At this level of difficulty, perhaps the rating system becomes more subjective, as I found similarly rated puzzles took vastly different times to complete. Also I would prefer the squares to be printed slightly bigger (the size of the Observer Killer is, IMO, ideal). The cheap book format makes holding and doing the puzzles easier on the right hand page than the left, if you are right handed.

Love this book. So far tried the "easiest" 20 puzzles, and only made a total hash of one.
They are rated to take about an hour each, typically I am spending between 35 to 55 minutes.
Great hours for pennies value !! Most are solved by summing 9x9 boxes, or pair/triple rows.
Will doubtless be getting others in the series.

Excellent compilation that majors mostly on the deadly and tough versions of sudoku - a book that will keep this reviewer happily challenged for some time.
