Enjoyable and thought provoking (0/0 people found this helpful)

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Highly recommended to anyone interested in exploring a different way of looking at the world. It makes you think!

Dumbed down and plain awful! (5/12 people found this helpful)

This book will appeal to the slow thinking American, or anyone else in need over grossly over simplied common sense. It is like reading a child's book - for an adult it is painfully patronising and SO dumbed down, that I could only manange about half the book!

It is not thought provoking or demanding in any way at all. The silly stories just kill me. The author is clearly targeting a readership of people with IQs in single figures.

I have serious doubts about the authenticity, as I can't believe Native Americans were this stupid - white Americans, yes.

Buy a book on Taoism instead.

'''What an amazing book" (120/121 people found this helpful)

I would recommend this book to everyone whether they are interested in Native American wisdom or not. It's a book about life. It's humility, humour and commonsense is amazing. It's not a 'teaching' book, its a book about learning, it doesn't preach, its gives you choice. Since I read it I have spent more time thinking about what Bear Heart says in it, than any other book I have read before. Its full of impact but it's subtle, which may sound like a contradiction, but you need to read it to understand what I mean. It's a very easy book to read, it doesn't use complicated language, it doesn't need to.

Just a beautiful book! (75/76 people found this helpful)

What more can I say? This is just a BEAUTIFUL Book!
Bear Heart describes his training and life as a Native American medicine man, in the most wonderful easy to read, elegant prose.
It leaves you knowing that there is more to life (if you ever doubted it!).

5/5 stars

One of the most gentle and noble books I have ever read (84/85 people found this helpful)

Bear Heart has shown in simple words what honesty, courage, spirituality and beauty can really mean and how it can work to develop the reader and stir the soul. He says 'find your own path', at the same time I would suggest that him writing about his, will give a searcher a helping hand. The humour in the book is wonderful and the insight into the many levels that we can exist on can lead to a greater awareness of the universe we dwell in. I am left with respect for the immense humility he has displayed writing in this style. To be clear though, this book is not about being flowery or fanciful, Bear Heart's story is about a tough journey as well as a wonder-full one and all who go down the spirit road will know what I mean by that. Thank you.
