Reader Reviews:An excellent reference book for Test Cricket (4/5 people found this helpful)Another welcome cricket reference book from Bill Frindall. It gives all the information you need about Test matches from 1877 to 1970. It however doesn't contain statistical details and details of players, which are in Vol 3.(which also covers Tests from 1996-2000. Needless to say there is a Volume 2 as well which covers Tests from 1970-96 If you already have Volume 1 of the 4th edition (1995) you might not need this as there are only marginal changes. One of the ultimate cricket reference books (1/4 people found this helpful)Another major cricket reference book with the accuracy and attention to detail one has come to associate with Bill Frindall. Publication of this edition was delayed by a few months, but the wait was well worth it since it now covers all Tests upto the 2000 English season as well as the Tests in Sri Lanka in mid-2000. It also includes a good statistical section including career figures of all Test players as well as details of births and deaths. A section on women's Test cricket concludes the book. Note that this book is not self-contained as the scorecards are for Tests since 1996-97 only although the statistical data covers all Tests since 1877. If you want scorecards of earlier Tests refer to Vol 1 for details up to 1969-70 and Vol 2 for details from 1970-71 to 1996. A must for any cricket fan's bookshelf One of the ultimate reference books for cricket fans (2/3 people found this helpful)This is one of the best cricket reference books available on the market, with all the reliability and attention to detail one has come to associate with Bill Frindall. It contains detailed scorecards of all Test matches from 1970 to 1996 along with a brief summary of interesting happenings in the match, often spiced with the author's whimsical comments. Other welcome details not found in most other reference books include changes in bowling order, names of umpires and end-of-day scores for each day. A must for every cricket lovers bookshelf. It is not complete by itself; for Tests before 1970 you need Vol 1 and for Tests after 1996 and other information you need Vol 3 Similar ProductsWisden Anthology 1978-2006: Cricket's Age of Revolution Grovel!: The Story and Legacy of the Summer of 1976 God Is Not Great: The Case Against Religion Wisden Cricketers' Almanack 2007 CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
