Reader Reviews:IT is a Must have if you want to know a little more about what happens to those who dare to speak out (2/2 people found this helpful)I really enjoyed this book , and loved all the examples of those who dared to speak out and bring things in the open . some lost their columns and careers , others were left isolated (those who wanted an inquiry into the USS liberty .. Just brilliant . Highly recommended . What an eye-opener! (19/24 people found this helpful)I couldn't put this book down. Well written, well refernced and a must-read for all interested in world affairs. The double standard (which is old news to some) in America's political system, educational institutions and - especially - news media has finally been exposed. I gasped when I read about the USS Liberty and found that Mr.Findley's views on the reasons behind the 9/11 tragedy were spot-on. Mr.Findley, congratulations on an excellent book and thank you for daring to speak out. A fantastic book! (11/17 people found this helpful)I finished this book in three days. The details of the relationship between the United States and Israel is revealed in detail. The double standards in the political systems, educational institutions and news media are alarming, to say the very least. It is very worrying to think that there is almost no such thing as free speech...at least without serious consequences. Mr.Findley's views on the reaons behind the 9/11 tragedy were spot on! Mr Findley, thank you for shedding light on the other side of of it all and thank you for daring to speak out. Eye-Opening Experience (9/13 people found this helpful)For those brave enough to look into the unpleasant workings of our modern Legislative and Executive branches, this is the book for you. While the frighteningly efficient pro-Israel lobby is described in exacting detail, one can apply the same lessons learned on the thousands of other lobbying groups that make a mockery of the phrase: "Will of the People." Essential reading for understanding US Mid East policy (14/18 people found this helpful)An essential book for all those interested in the Middle East and understanding the flat-footed diplomacy of successive US governments in the region. The book offers increasingly chilling examples of why US politicians and information institutions are pro-Israel to the point where independently-minded people might ask if this is not in fact detrimental to Israel in the long term. The book was written in 1989 but, seeing the recent "Israeli Correct" (I.C.!) declaration that disputed Jerusalem is "the eternal, undivided capital of Israel" by Hillary Clinton to the national association of synagogues in preparation for her election bid, the realities the book speaks of clearly remain the status quo in the political arena. A very scary account of Israeli political domination of the US through McCarthyite tactics and hard cash. With one of the reaped benefits of this allignment with the colonial excesses of Zionism being a rise of Islamic terrorism against the US in the ten years since the book was written, one wonders where this political brokenness will ultimately lead us all. A very serious issue. The book is a must read. Buy it now.
