Reader Reviews:

5/5 stars

A perfectly formed little book of observations (0/0 people found this helpful)

Not the usual soppy, feel good tripe (don't know what some of the other reviewers where reading!), but a decent collection of thought nurturing gems about life and everything. It's peppered inventively throughout with a self-effacing humour, which is essential in these sorts of books which can be irritatingly sanctimonious at best or excruciatingly mawkish at their very worst. Some of his own observations and aphorisms are included too, so he's not just standing on the shoulders of the great people of letters which would be so easy to do and frankly a cop out. So, what's next?

The synopsis is wrong! (0/0 people found this helpful)

The synopsis should read as follows:

In "Thoughts, Quotes and Poems on Happiness" the author, Rakesh Aggarwal, explores the many aspects of happiness, bringing them together in an intellectual but easy to read and fun way.

He borrows pearls of wisdom from the likes of Aristotle, Samuel Johnson and The Dharmapada. He has interlaced these with the wisdom of many cultures and his own observations to produce a book which can be dipped into at any time - it makes the perfect gift.

Topics explored include money, wisdom, friendship and keeping happy from moment to moment. People often go to one extreme of another in their pursuit of happiness. Rakesh hopes this book will help readers find a balance, leading to a more sustainable happiness.

"I hope this book will help people to think more clearly about what they are doing and why they are doing it. I also hope that it will give them a more positive attitude to life's setbacks and challenges," says Rakesh.

little bundle of happiness (0/0 people found this helpful)

I like this book for many reasons; it is a store of wisdom, of heart-felt commentary on the human condition by notable figures from throughout history, as well as from the author himself. True wisdom is universal, and this book truly has something for everyone. Guaranteed to brighten up any dull mood, and to re-affirm in your heart the joy of life!

A Life Changing Little Book (1/1 people found this helpful)

This wonderful little book helps me through the day in my unusually stressful job. It is full of erudite quotes, pearls of wisdom and is a joy to dip in and out of. it is the perfect size to fit in one's handbag or pocket. It puts everything into perspective for me at the end of my very long working days. All the quotes are categorised into sections which is great and the layout is attractive. I love the smiley man cover, it cheers me up no end.It makes the perfect gift and is very reasonably priced. Well done Mr Aggarwal!
