This novel puts you at the centre of a terribly complicated war.
Managing to simplyify the political by concentrating on the journey of a reporter and the characters he meets and cares about. Keneally creates sympathy and understanding for a situation that we in the West may find too upsetting to comprehend. Despite being written a few years ago the issues it explores remain pertinent.
