Reader Reviews:Tony... Thanks for the memories... (1/1 people found this helpful)I've been a Spandau Ballet fan since I was 16! I fell in love with my first love during the beautiful song,"True" at its peak on the charts. I believe Tony has the most beautiful voice in the world!I was thrilled to receive this wonderful book which Tony Hadley had written about his life so far. A wonderful, honest book covering his childhood to the heights of superstardom , court battles (such unfair outcomes),to present day still enjoying his passion for singing & fundraising for deserving causes. A book sometimes tinged with sadness but also contained may happy memories, humour & optimism for the future. I absolutely loved the book & stayed up reading it till 4 am this morning as I couldn't put it down. Thank you for sharing your life so far with us,Tony. I too look forward to the next chapter... book... Too cut a long Story Short by Tony Hadley (0/0 people found this helpful)I read this book in a couple of days and could not put it down, Always a fan of Mr. Hadley (2/2 people found this helpful)Ok Tony Hadley's voice has in the past driven me mad for he has the most beautiful voice EVAH! I didn't really know alot about Spandau Ballet, and living in the US/Chicago it's a wonder I even knew about Spandau Ballet, and I knew even less about Tony Hadley which always made me sad. I found him to be absolutely hilarious, truthful, insightful and sometimes he just broke my heart. I think I'm way more upset about his marriage ending than I am my own! Ok maybe I should distance myself huh? lol Anyways, this is a wonderful book, I read it in a day and my 6 year old son wants to know who the heck Tony Hadley is and why I can't stop listening to him or reading his book, he's rather cross with me. :) Couldn't put it down (1/1 people found this helpful)I think Tony's book is excellent. Other reviewers have criticised his views on events and other band members. But they are 'his' views. I didn't buy the book to judge anyone. It's a sobering tale for anyone who is thinking of "making it big" in the music industry and believes that this is guaranteed to make their life fantastic. We can all learn from Tony's experiences. Fame and money (or lack of it) aren't everything. It's not what you do in life, it's the way that you do it. I must admit, I was really saddened at the end of the book when Tony revealed that he has split with Leonie. I hope they can try again. Repetitive but honest (2/3 people found this helpful)Tony Hadley - what a voice and to hear him sing, you know he was Spandau Ballet. What a shame that Gary Kemp could not let go. I must say, after reading this book, I see Tony Hadley's life as one long booze cruise of which poor Leonie was a casualty. He only thinks of himself and his ambition which unfortunately did not really include his wife and children. I felt for him over the legal battle....who is Gary Kemp now anyway? But Tony needs to start thinking of the ones he has hurt along the way and open his eyes a bit wider.
