Editorial Review:From Antarctica to Zimbabwe, if you are going there chances are Lonely Planet has been there first. With a pithy and matter-of-fact writing style, these guides are guaranteed to calm the nerves of first-time world travellers, while still listing off-the-beaten-path finds sure to thrill even the most jaded globe-trotters. Lonely Planet has been perfecting its guidebooks for nearly 30 years and as a result, has experience and know-how similar to an older sibling's "been there" advice. The original backpacker's bible, the LP series has recently widened its reach. While still giving insights for the low-budget traveller, the books now list a wide range of accommodations and itineraries for those with less time than money. This tried-and-true book written by a long-time Kathmandu resident and trekker, offers everything you need to know to take a walk that will forever change your life--a trek through the Nepal Himalaya. It includes excellent planning details, comprehensive health and safety information, 38 maps, advice on culturally and environmentally sensitive trekking, how to get to the trail heads, a detailed equipment checklist and a useful Nepali language section. The guide focuses on both the best treks and lesser known alternatives. --Kathryn True Reader Reviews:Indispensable! A must for every himalayan traveller. (3/4 people found this helpful)Whatever your destination in the Nepal Himalaya, this book is a must. It is packed full of tips for the trekker and gives a detailed description of your chosen trek from landing at Kathmandu to your destination in the mountains. The Nepalese culture, accommodation, currency, first aid tips and the language are but a few of this comprehensive books useful features. Very good guide book (1/3 people found this helpful)I'd agree with the abvoe review and this is another good Lonely Planet guide. It's layed out pretty much the same as other LP books, but it's style is a little different (then again it is a trekking guide as opposed to a general guide). The only bad thing I could say is that there's quite a lot of info on Nepal/Kathmandu/Pokhara in general, which you will know about if you have the LP Nepal book. It would be nice to have more details on the routes and walking distances/times for each day. Usually you only get a couple of paragraphs for each day (sometimes maybe upto a page). The lastest edition does cover all of Nepal and the newer routes opened up... A must for anyone trekking in Nepal (0/2 people found this helpful)This book is clearly a labour of love - anyone who can provide such detail, including gradient of the walk, where to get the best food, and how to find the greatest views - clearly is in love with his subject. This shows here. Essential reading for anyone who's going to Nepal to trek Similar ProductsNepal (Lonely Planet Country Guide) CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
