These girls are an inspiration! (1/1 people found this helpful)

How many of us have dreams and actually manage to fulfil them? I admire what Jo and Ants did and I loved this book. Having suffered from depression previously, I know how hard it is to get back to normal, let alone plan for and complete a journey like they did. I urge people to buy this book and read the journey of two friends who had a dream and the drive to see it through.

I love the chatty style of the book, which feels very intimate and how you are truly with them for each step of the way.

Read it, you'll love it!

Complementary dialogue (1/1 people found this helpful)

As an avid reader of travel biographies I enjoyed reading Tuk Tuk to the Road. What for me was unique about the blogging dialogue was that,as
a form of communication, it provided two interpretations, two pairs of eyes and two sets of feelings that made the reader feel that they inextricably linked in a very real way to the experiences encountered by the authors. There was also something very positive about the way in which both authors expressed their feelings, particularly about the people they encountered. The trip was fun and clearly challenging; it was also heartening and refreshing and this made the book a really good, and very realistic, 'travel read'.

Great idea (3/3 people found this helpful)

I thought that the whole ideation of this was great, however the actual literacy content was poor and at times unreadable. I felt like I was reading a teenagers diary. As a reader I felt fooled by pages and pages of repeated words. Had I have actually taken these out of the book there would have very little of it left. What these two girls did was an amazing feat, and I respect their decision to use the book as another tool to raise enough money to reach their target, however I also felt that the content of the book that raised the issues of mental health were one sided, with the main focus and attention being showered upon Joanne Huxter, but well done for high lighting mental illness. I can't say I will be keeping this book on my shelf, and as for the 'The Friday Project' all I can say is that the editing team really let this book down.

Mission Inspirational. (1/1 people found this helpful)

I read this book and cried.

How many of us have `big ideas' and how many of us actually have the courage to follow them?
This easy to read and engaging book takes the reader on a journey with two friends from Bangkok to Brighton, in a pink tuk tuk.
The journey (or `big idea') is a remarkable one, but beyond that this is an inspirational story of friendship, courage, hope, adventure and the ability to overcome obstacles. The mental heath issues are tackled with sensitivity and the fact that they are addressed gives this book such a depth.

The actual book is a beautiful one. Simple. The illustrations add visuals and the blog posts are clearly marked by an ant and a ferret which links back to the friendship that these girls share.

This is a `must read' - an inspirational story of friendship and determination.

An Inspiration (1/1 people found this helpful)

This book is a real inspiration for all young people today - especially those who have or have had mental health problems.
The chatty style is very easy to read and the book is amusing and informative.
It proves without a doubt that anything is possible if you have the courage and willpower.
