Reader Reviews:A cracking read - Both funny and moving (4/8 people found this helpful)Being a Coventrian like Sir Jon of Gaunt I obviously have a vested interest in this book , but even if you switch off every time his voice illuminates the airwaves I would urge you to read his story , as it is a poignant , often shocking , but frequently hilarious tale of how a man refused to allow tragic death , childrens home abuse , and bankruptcy destroy his life and rose again like a phoenix from the ashes to become of the most talked about radio presenters in Britain .The language is at times candid and Jon pulls no punches with this account of his story so far , but this fascinating book has a moral and that is that it is far better to try and make a success of your life and lose everything than to just be another one of the snipers on the sidelines.Like him or loath him , and I can firmly say I am very pro - Jon , you cannot deny that he is man who refuses to be ignored , and why should he be, as Jon fights for the normal person and stands up for the silent millions who are fed up with aspects of life in our great country at the moment but who are frighted to speak out in case of being called racists or belittled by the liberal brigade. When you read this book , you will discover that Jon has no such reservations. A good read (5/9 people found this helpful)I've always liked Gaunty and agreed with most, but not all of his views. So to buy this book was a no-brainer.
Unreadable. (4/11 people found this helpful)Self-pitying, poorly written, and full of right-wing politics. Gaunt is nothing more than another moaning Middle England Richard Littlejohn wannabe. Don't waste your money. Jon Gaunt touched me (6/12 people found this helpful)A very touching read. Place your half-price order on Amazon now. If your local bookshops are anything like mine, they won't have a copy, presumably because it's sold out! A national Treasure (10/20 people found this helpful)Give this man a Knighthood, a genius - Shakespeare, eat your heart out. I was moved to tears, I think he captures the mood of the nation in a way that Orwell never could. A giant of man in more ways than one.
