Charming, touching and a time soon to be past....... (4/4 people found this helpful)This is the most delightful book of amateur photographs from Royal Mail staff. I don't think that the intention of the contest that inspired the book was to provide a kind of snapshot of the life and times of British people, but that is what it has done.
Royal Mail reaches the heart of the nation (8/8 people found this helpful)This is an amazing book of photographs taken by postmen and women to raise money for Hospices. Pictures range from stunning scenery, to hilarious snapshots of the great British public. It is full of eccentricities and quirky things like the man in his C5, the slug on the door, a picture of postmens' chubby legs in shorts, and lots and lots of dogs - nice and nasty. As you turn the pages the mood changes and you realise it is a 24 hour 'journey' all round the UK. The pictures also give you a glimpse behind the scenes at Royal Mail, and you also realise that there is a lot more to the people who deliver the mail. Some of the photographs could be by professionals. It is a very clever idea, and although I'm not one for coffee table books, this is great for dipping in and out of (it's a really big book) The into is by Jon Ronson and very amusing. And Royal Mail is giving all the money to a good cause.
