Great as always Maeve (3/6 people found this helpful)

As with all Maeve Binchy Books this was great. I recommend it to anyone that has read and enjoyed Maeve's books before. Light reading and takes you out of your world in to someone elses.

A wonderful collection of short stories (4/7 people found this helpful)

Each one of these gems is better than the rest. Binchy is a true story teller. Not only will she have you hooked, she'll have all your friends and family hooked too. Her quirky, well-written stories are having a long, overdue chat with a good friend. Classic.

A book for those on the run (13/14 people found this helpful)

What a great book for those people who don't have time or just don't get the chance to read a whole book, this is ideal a collection of short stories.featuring tube stations and people who live or work there. Makes you wonder about the people you see everyday.Delightfully witty and thoughtfully I have to admit one of the first books Read by this author and from then on wanted more. There is something very real about the people told about and you get the feel for them. a Must for all.In fact felt so good about this book got a friend to buy it and if they did not like it promised them the money back, the friend loved this book and bought me the new book by this author. Happy Reading

A truly excellent collection (13/14 people found this helpful)

I have just bought a new edition of this book, having read (and shared) my first copy to pieces!

Without any doubt at all, this is the finest collection of 'modern' short stories I have ever read. Each story, like each of the succinctly described characters, is astonishing in a different way.

If you have ever wondered what people are REALLY like beneath the surface, in this book Maeve Binchy finds out for you. The changing faces of people within the fixedness of place is the theme of each story. No-one is who he/she appear to be and the surprises are endless.

Even if you have never buy another short-story collection. buy this one.
