I bought this book assuming it would improve my vocabulary; it hasn't. After diligently reading the first couple of chapters, I started skimming through, promising myself I would slow down once I reached a word I hadn't ever come across. Unfortunately, I just kept on skimming through the pages right up to the end of the book.
This book really is for dummies, or at least 'native English speaker' dummies. Any normally educated UK reader will likely find the content - which seems to concentrate more on syntax, pronunciation and etymology - too low-brow. Probably a good read for EFL students, but us natives would be better off browsing a thesaurus/dictionary website.
