Reader Reviews:Beautiful book (0/0 people found this helpful)This book is a great book packed with photos and illustrations of concepts used (and some not used) in Disney Parks around the world. The book also describes many processes that go into designing rides and problems they encounter.
Love it or hate it (0/2 people found this helpful)Having purchased this not too long ago, in a way I feel extremely satisfied with it, but in a way strangely empty. The book is packed full of glossy pictures and the suchlike, yet as it even claims itself, it gives very little away about how Disney work their magic by way of the imagineers. If you want only to read the text, it shouldn't take more than about 7 hours soldily. In reality, it's the pictures that fill it. In conclusion, get it if you really want a visual insight into the construction of some of the shops, rides and landmark attractions (Magic Kingdom Castle, e.t.c), otherwise, don't worry too much. It's good in its own way, but some may find this a little "empty" for what it could be The Definitive Guide to Walt Disney Imagineering (11/11 people found this helpful)As a big fan of Disney and in particular their theme parks I've always found "Behind the Scenes" books hard to find. If, like me, your interested in the designs & ideas that went into making some of the best theme park attractions in the world then this book is a must. There's superb photo's and images ranging from concept sketches to completed attractions along with some fascinating info on ideas that never quite made it into the parks (my particular favourites). Walt Disney's Imagineering Dept has always appealed to me and this is a perfectly laid out book which I just wish was ten times bigger. There's not a massive amount of text but this isn't a problem as it leaves room for some breathtaking pictures. If you like the Disney Theme Parks and are interested in going Behind the Scenes, Get this book, it's a brilliant insight into what goes into creating Disney attractions. Wonderful Book for Disney theme park fans! (3/3 people found this helpful)If you are as nuts about Disneyland as I am, you will absolutely love this wonderful book. Full of great photos, stories and artwork from WDI/WED Imagineers, you will find this title fascinating from cover to cover. A great behind-the-scenes look at how the design process works (and sometimes doesn't work) in the world of Disney Theme Parks. A Beautifully Illustrated and Informative Book! (6/6 people found this helpful)If you are looking for a book to explain how Disney makes the magic come to life, you've found the right book! This book is filled with fantastic photographs, sketches, paintings, and other products of Disney's Imagineering. A "coffee table book" actually worth reading! The Imagineers give away a lot of their secrets, but don't expect to learn it all. Just when you think you've cracked the Imagineer's vault, they change the subject on you. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting a "behind-the-scenes" look at how the Disney parks were made into the wonderful places they are today.
