Reader Reviews:

5/5 stars

A Fascinating, Worthwhile Read (3/5 people found this helpful)

Margolis writes superbly, brings first-hand experience to his theories, and illuminates a chilling reality that is virtually unknown to 99% of the reading public. As an author he is entitled to express his opinions, and I found them refreshingly direct as well as fair. I certainly never gleaned these issues from any credible media source, while the positions of India, China, and the former Soviet Union have been given ample ink over the years. I recommend this book to any thinking person who unwittingly believes they are well informed on current global conflicts; I daresay they will be as stunned and deeply affected as I was. The issues presented by Margolis cannot easily be dismissed or ignored. And that is precisely the point.

1/5 stars

An interesting idea, poorly executed. (2/4 people found this helpful)

There is an excellent book to be written about the geo-political faultine that curls along the northern border of the Indian Sub-continent. Sadly this is not it. Margolis, pictured on the inside flap on the back cover clutching a Kalashnikov in would-be war-hero mode, intrudes into the narrative unwelcomly and too often. His personality is unattractively partisan, and detracts from his thesis. The thesis itself is wobbly and contradictory, which is infuriating since it is difficult to ascertain which train of thought holds merit. Thoroughly disappointing.
