This book covers all the important websphere stuff, without going into the gory and confusing details. If you need to know all of the intricacies of an XA transaction architecture, well, this book isn't for you. If you want to know what WebSphere is all about, and the key ideas behind the IBM middle-tier, well, this is the book you need.

I picked this book up before taking an IBM class, and it really cleared up alot of ideas and misconceptions I had about websphere and J2EE. Then I took the IBM class, and things got all muddled again, so I re-read the book. I once again understand.
It's so frustrating when people over-explain or over-complicate technology. Of course, websphere is a pretty big monster, but when explained in simple, straight forward terms, it is easy to comprehend, and that is exactly what this book does - put websphere in simple and easy to understand terms.
If you're investing in websphere, here's some advice - invest in this book as well.
