Reader Reviews:WI-FOO The Secrets of misleading/conning the buyer (19/30 people found this helpful)This book is of no use to Microsoft Windows users. It is written solely for the Linux platform. It would have been nice if this had been pointed out in the description of the book BEFORE I had parted with my money! They should have made it clear that this book is Linux specific and let the buyer decide whether the book is suitable for their needs. The 1 star rating I have given this book is in no way related to the content of the book, as It is obviously of use to the Linux users who have posted their reviews before me, it is simply to illustrate my displeasure. The only wireless security book you'll ever need! (8/8 people found this helpful)I picked up this book as the title was rather catchy, and being into InfoSec it seemed like a fitting read. I've used countless techniques in this book for client penetration tests, and I love the fact that the book goes deeper than most books do on the subject of wireless chipsets. Don't even waste the time thinking about whether you should buy this book, just get it now! You won't regret it! Wi-Foo Tastic (7/8 people found this helpful)If you need the all in one reference and are serious about wireless security then this is the book for you ...Packed with interesting facts and figures which are written well with humor and relevance....Once picked up not put down and will remain one of the dog eared copies on my bookshelf for a long time... I've wi-food Have You? A must have book for all Security Boffins. (6/7 people found this helpful)I can't begin to express the amount of info am gobbling now since I bought Wifoo last evening. Wireless Security? This book *is* the bible! (10/10 people found this helpful)If either your job title contains any of the words "Network", "Systems", "Administrator" or you play with networks as a hobby, and you've ever had anything to do with installing, commissioning or working with wireless networks - listen up: The Bad Guys are after your Wireless LAN. In this ground-breaking book, the three authors will tell you three main things: who is after your Wireless Network, How they can get in, and (most importantly) how to keep them out. This is the first book I've ever read that re-defines Wireless penetration testing almost as an art-form. You'll learn the equipment to use, where to get it and how to set it up, the software tools to use (and those to avoid) and how to test and secure many different kinds of Wireless network. Importantly, the authors place as much importance on keeping out the Bad Guys as teaching you just how they get in. Also covered are detection techniques, hardware hacks, and steps to take in the event of a break in. By the end of the book, you'll have the equipment and knowledge to audit Wireless Networks, discover security holes, and fix them. If you have any interest at all in Wireless Networking, or your job includes the management of Wirless Equipment - BUY THIS BOOK NOW!
