Wild Geese was published in 1925 and won its author Martha Ostenso an international book prize. Such an achievement brought attention to Canadian writing in the rest of the world. It is a story of harsh pioneer life, with a complex plot and psychgologically interesting characters. In terms of form and content, this novel ranks as one of the most successful and popular prairie fiction published in its period.

This book may be a classic work, with realistic, down to earth believable characters, but the fact that it is based on monotonous life leads the book the be the same, boring and mostly pointless.

The gripping story of a woman named Judith Gare, who possessed a fiery passion and courage that enabled her to withstand her father's tyrannical rule. A very well written and powerful book about the strength of the human spirit. A definite must read.
