Until the publication of this book in 1995 there had been something of a dearth of books on Wimbledon FC despite their incredible progress through the football pyramid. Clive Leatherdale thankfully began to rectify this position with this account which was subsequently followed by Stephen Crabtree's trilogy, The Don's In The League, The Amazing Journey and From Wembley to Selhurst.
This book covers the seasons between 1964 and 1995 with each season covered in around 3 pages plus a report on a Match of The Season. Also inlcuded are results from each game during this period including line ups for both teams which to my knowledge cannot be found in any other book about Wimbledon.
The book is low on photographic content however those featured have not been widely published elsewhere. The chronicles between 1977 and 1992 are covered with greater depth in Crabtree's series however this book admirably includes the earlier years. This is no mean feat when you consider the leagues Wimbledon were playing in meant minimal media coverage and much has been lost in the mists of time. It is to Clive Leatherdale's credit that a good account of these humble times are covered.
This is a well researched book and will obviously appeal to Wimbledon fans everywhere but I can also recommend it to those interested in finding out how Wimbledon moved from non league football to respected members of the Premier League in less than 20 years.
