Reader Reviews:Great illustrations, but text is toxic!! (1/3 people found this helpful)Super illustrations in this book are marred by a text that is totally biased towards creationism. This is the kind of book that would go down well with religious nuts in rural Alabama but not in the UK. Environmentalists will love it, atheists won't (52/52 people found this helpful)Really nice pictures and a responsible underlying theme of conserving and looking after the earth's resources - these were what led me to buy this for a nephew, without having seen it. However this book has a strongly religious theme which is not obvious from the title - if the message that God made all of us and the world around us is not your scene, this may not be for you. The almighty's role in creation features on almost every page. But Mick Inkpen's drawings are delightful as ever. A Wonderful "find" in a sea of thousands !!! (26/31 people found this helpful)A fantastic ,wonderfully written and illustrated book.A must for every childrens bookshelf or library. It is imaginative and thought provoking for the older child and just a delight for the younger ones as the illustrations are captivating.I cannot give it to much praise all I can say is" order your copies and I emphasise copies now!" Interesting, funny and thought provoking (25/25 people found this helpful)This illustrated account covers creation through to the current state of the earth. It is written with deceptive simplicity and homour. Children will love this book first for its illustrations but the information will come to mean more and more to them as their comprehension grows. It is a children's book that adults enjoy.
