Brilliant in most respects - a worthy successor! (0/0 people found this helpful)

Having procured the trilogy from e-Bay and ravenously consumed the first volume, I was eagerly anticipating getting into the second volume. And it didn't disappoint. As with the first volume, the narrative is fast paced, interesting, easy to follow and highly detailed. Almost all apsects of Pitt's actions in various situations are weighed up against the surviving evidence with, in most cases, the conclusion being almost obvious even to those completely unfamiliar with the subject. I feel the author has treated Pitt with a lot of sympathy and reverance which certainly dispels many myths, legends and fokelore etc surrounding Britain's youngest PM. Altogether this volume was a worthy successor to the first which definately redefined how political histories are written.
